The town centre of Sheerness is home to the largest freestanding cast iron clock tower in Kent. It is 36 feet (11 m) tall and was built in 1902 at a cost of £360 to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII. Paul was commissioned to re-gild the clock and restore it to its former glory.
Paul was proud to accept a commission to make this finely detailed pair of carvings for the British House of Commons where they now adorn a screen. Paul likes to joke that the screen was erected to prevent people from throwing things over the balcony at the politicians!
Top and lower left photos show Newel Posts and Newel Caps carved by Paul for a client of Medway Joinery.
The photo in the lower right hand corner shows another staircase Paul was commissioned to do for Medway Joinery. For this client Paul carved the Newel Posts, Newel Caps, and handrails in a timeless style befiting this elegant home.
Paul carved this substantial yet finely detailed Newel post cap to match originals for Green's Jewellers in Rochester, Kent.
Paul fully restored the facade of the building which stands at 41 High Street, Chatham, Kent, for Cockman Construction. Half of this bracket is original, the other half was carved by Paul to perfectly adjoin to the old bracket. Paul then made a complete new bracket to match this one which now adorns the other side of the facade.
